Security When Walking
- If you are on campus at night, use a security escort or the night security bus service provided.
- If you feel unsafe on campus anytime, phone extension 85585 and request a security escort to accompany you to public transport or your car.
- Avoid lonely places, especially at night. Walk only on lit walkways away from shrubs and trees. Do not take short cuts.
- If someone follows you, change direction and go to a place where there are other people.
- Be wary of strangers, on foot or in cars, asking directions - it's better to be rude than to be in danger.
- Don't use earphones connected to a portable music device when out walking. It will distract you from who and what is happening around you.
- Be alert and walk purposefully. Confidence deters attackers - walk with a friend or stay with a group.
- Carry a mobile phone.
- Enjoy yourself when walking in our beautiful city and wonderful climate.
