- From 2009 QUT will use a single contactless smart proximity card as your ID / building access card. The benefits of Smart Card technology include the ability to have multiple applications residing and operating independently on a single card with high-level encryption between card and reader as well as less wear and tear on your card and the building readers.
- The new teardrop shaped proximity reader is a card only reader, capable of providing you with fast, secure access. All you have to do is simply lightly touch your new card to the face of the reader, a coloured LED and a beeper will provide feedback to you. The green light means access is granted and the red light means access is denied.
- Look after your card by keeping it away from electro magnetic fields and excessive heat such as leaving it on your car dash in the middle of a Queensland summer day.
To continue to access QUT buildings, if you have not already obtained a new ID card, you should visit your nearest Student Centre immediately to get a new card. Please note, the new ID cards have ask.qut.edu.au printed on the back.
Old ID cards will not work with the new proximity readers.
If you continue to have access issues please call the Security Team on ext: 85585.
