- Do not think for one second that anything you post on YouTube or in the social networking environment will ever be kept private or that you will be able to recall or remove it. Social networking is great but you do not need to go into every detail about your private life. Be careful what you share with the world.
- Whatever you post is like a diamond, it will last forever and be able to be viewed by anyone in the future so be careful what you say about others and don’t embarrass yourself.
- Be vigilant about what your friends post on your wall. Does the world need to read about or see what you did or looked like at the end a huge night out. It may come back to haunt you.
- Do not place your personal information on your Facebook profile. Identity thieves love information such as your residential address, your phone number, your mobile number, your date of birth, and the rest.
- Do not accept all “Friend” Requests. There have been reported instances of sex offenders creating fake accounts to gain access to people just like you.
- Do not leave your computer on with your Facebook account open. This is the equivalent of leaving the front door to your home wide open while you are out. Good things won’t come of it.
