- Check the locks on all doors and windows. If damaged or inadequate, ask the
agent or owner that they be repaired or replaced.
- Ask the agent or owner how many keys are in existence for the residence. Consider replacing the
external door lock cylinders.
- When advertising for share accommodation be cautious about giving your address
or home phone numbers to strangers. Try to give them a work number or arrange
to meet them on neutral ground or have more than one person at home to meet
them.
