Shelter in Place
- This is the safe containment of people in a secure environment during an emergency situation.
- Shelter in Place is a valid alternative to an orderly evacuation in situations such as
- an external toxic gas cloud
- civil disorder on campus
- airborn debris in a high wind, weather situation
- hail storm.
- Depending on the conditions, the safest alternative action i.e. to evacuate or shelter in place should be considered.
