Following a comprehensive professional audit to identify locations of asbestos materials on University Campuses, a register has been compiled and is maintained in Facilities Management. QUT complies with government building requirements for the management of `stable' asbestos.
Prior to commencement of any building work, the Asbestos Register is consulted, and appropriate action and costing is provided for in the project budget. Any asbestos removal required in the process of the project would be carried out according to the specific requirements laid down in the Workplace Health and Safety Act (1995) Compliance Standard for Asbestos removal.
