In addition to the Major Works scheduled in the Asset Management Plan, the Capital Works Section undertakes minor works projects over $5,000 while staff from the Operations Section generally delivers minor works projects under $5,000 within the University.
Minor works include works relating to minor construction, remodelling and renovation of existing spaces and can be either University of Faculty/Division funded.
For new Minor Work to be carried out, on behalf of a Faculty, School, Division, Institute, Research Centre or Department, it is necessary to complete a Facilities Management Non Maintenance Request Form.
Facilities Management will then determine whether the job will be handled in-house by QUT staff, or whether an outside contractor is appointed to complete the project. Once a Work Request is received and processed, a project coordinator will be assigned to the project and scope of work discussions initiated with the client.
Depending on the size and complexity of the project the Project Coordinator may need to commission one or more technical consultants to document the project for construction.
