In addition to the Major Projects scheduled in the Asset Management Plan, Capital Works Section are also responsible for the delivery of all Minor New Works.
Minor new works include works relating to minor construction, remodelling and renovation of existing spaces. Minor works projects can range in cost between $2,000 and $ 1M and can be either centrally funded, or Faculty/Department funded.
For new work to be carried out, whether it is the installation of white boards or shelving, renovations to a floor, or other minor work, it is necessary to complete a Facilities Management Work Request form and either submit it electronically or forward it to Facilities Management Help Desk, Y Block, Kelvin Grove QLD 4059.
Facilities Management will then determine whether the job will be handled in-house by QUT staff, or whether an outside contractor is appointed to complete the project. Once a Work Request is received and processed, a project manager will be assigned to the project and scope of work discussions initiated with the client.
Depending on the size and complexity of the project the Project Manager may need to commission one or more technical consultants to document the project for construction.
