The University class timetable is produced by Campus Services. View the Timetabling page for information about processes. Timetables are published on various QUT web pages and are updated daily.
Timetables are available in School lists, and individual subjects can be viewed with a unit search. Students can view their personal timetables in their Student Profile on QUT Virtual.
Please consult your Faculty or School if you have any queries about your timetable.
The University is mindful of the great diversity in culture and religion among the student body and will take reasonable measures to ensure that your learning is not adversely affected by your religious obligations. If your classes are scheduled at times that interfere with your genuine religious beliefs you are urged to contact the Equity Section staff to discuss your options.
Timetabling Policies:
Change procedure
It is presumed that students plan their forthcoming academic program based on knowledge of their timetable, ie campus, day, time and location of teaching activities in their units. Consequently, changes to the published timetable will be kept to a minimum.
- Requests for changes to days and times, and anything affecting lecture activities require approval of the dean of faculty (eg deleting a lecture, adding a lecture, moving a lecture to another room, moving any activity to a different day/time). These changes are the ones that most directly affect students' planning and course choices, and require a sound reason before being approved. These requests should be submitted on the Request to Amend Class Timetable form.
- Requests for changes to rooms for non-lecture activities and adding/deleting non-lecture activities may be submitted through the person responsible for timetabling in a faculty or school (eg moving a tutorial to a different room, deleting a tutorial/seminar/practical that is no longer required, adding a tutorial). All of these changes, with reasons, are to be made in writing to the Campus Services-Timetabling section, but need not be signed off by a dean of faculty.
- All faculties and schools have access to a read-only version of the published timetable. When considering changes of any sort, it is recommended that the read-only timetable be used to determine whether a change is possible, and to consider the consequence of the proposed change for students. Campus Services is under no obligation to hold rooms for pending changes.
- Where changes occur with little notice, schools must advise all students. If rooms are changed they must put appropriate signs on the old location to direct students to the new location, and remove them after the activity is completed.
The complete Timetable policy is available in Chapter E of the Manual of Policy and Procedures.
