Staff wishing to park on campus may either apply for a parking permit or use either the Pay & Display car parks.

Permit Parking:

Staff permit parking is limited to that made available through Faculty or Divisional quota allocations or to Shift Workers.

Parking for staff members who are also QUT Council Members or Shift Workers is made available outside the quota allocations.

Shift Workers: A Shift Worker is a professional staff member defined as a shift worker by the current QUT Enterprise Bargaing Agreement. Staff who fall within this category may apply for a permit to park in the designated Shift Worker zones. These areas are not access controlled and will carry a daily charge of $3.00 (with a maximum annual charge of $720). Staff should be aware that while the number of permits issued will be carefully controlled to maximise the opportuntiy of locating a parking space, no guarantee can be provided. To apply for a permit you will need to complete a Shift Workers Parking Application Form

Faculty or Divisional Quota: A small quota allocation is given to each Faculty and Division to be allocated to staff by the Dean/Head of Division based on QUT work requirements. You are advised to contact your Faculty or Divisional Office if you wish to be considered as part of the quota allocation. Should you be allocated parking from within the quota, you are still required to complete a parking application form and submit it to the Parking Office by the due date.

The quota allocations for the Kelvin Grove campus are restricted to the spaces available within CIP, IHBI and a number of permit based open-air car parks. These spaces will be charged to users at the following rates:

CIP/IHBI

0000-1200 hours midnight to12.00 midday $3.00
1200-1800 hours 12.00 midday to 6.00 pm $3.00
1700-2400 hours 5.00 pm until midnight $3.00

The maximum daily fee will be $6.00 regardless of the number of sessions you take.

Open-Air Car parks without Controlled Access

These car parks will be charged at a flat daily rate of $3.00 with a maximim annual charge of $720.00. These car parks are permit based but not access controlled. The number of permits issued will be carefully controlled to maximise the opportunity of locating a car parking space, but no guarantee can be provided.

Pay & Display Car Parks:

There are five Pay & Display car parks on campus. Hertson Road (adjacent to the Tennis Courts), the SLSC Car Park and the Green Zone Car Parks - the Oval, the Boundary Rd Indent and the Rainforest Car Parks. Fees vary between car parks. Please see the Pay & Display section for further details. Pre-purchased scratch-it permits will be required for the SLSC Car Park and will also be available for the Oval Car Park. The permits will be able to be purchased from Student Centres, Campus Bookshops, through Student Guild shops and directly from the Parking Office. They are used simply by scratching panels to review the appropriate day, date and month details before displaying the ticket on the vehicle dashboard. Click here for a sample of the new scratch-it permits.

Please see the campus map for locations of the car parks. This map should be used as a guide only and signage should always be checked.

If you need to travel between campuses, there is free inter-campus shuttle service between the Carseldine and Kelvin Grove campuses, and between Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point campuses.
