Staff wishing to park on campus may either apply for a parking permit or use the Pay & Display car park. As parking is extremely limited, staff are encouraged to use alternative methods of access such as public transport. Staff should be aware that parking regulations are enforced at all times and all parking on campus attracts a charge.

Permit Parking:

Staff may be granted parking either through the quota allocaton or the general pool. Parking for QUT Council Members , Shift Workers and the Pre'86 group are granted parking outside the quota and general pool allocations. Should you be granted a parking permit, your parking will normally be located in levels 1 & 2 of S, Z and C Blocks. In order to allow staff the maximum flexibility, applicants apply for parking in two or more hour time slots. The fee structure is as follows (includes GST). These fees are per slot per day.

0000-0800 hours midnight to 8.00 am $1.65
0800-1000 hours 8.00 am to 10.00 am $1.65
1000-1200 hours 10.00 am to 12.00 midday $1.65
1200-1400 hours 12.00 midday to 2.00 pm $1.65
1400-1600 hours 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm $1.65
1600-1800 hours 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm $1.65
1800-2400 hours 6.00 pm to midnight $3.30

Shift Workers: A shift worker is a professional staff member as defined by the current QUT Enterprise Bargaing Agreement. Staff who fall within this category may apply for a parking permit to park under the buildings. To apply for a permit you will need to complete a Shift Workers Parking Application Form

Pre'86 Group : A number of GP staff have held continious paid parking since prior to 1986. Staff who fall within this category are given the option of renewing their reserved parking. In order to remain a member of this group, you must continue to purchase parking. To renew your parking permit you must complete a Parking Application form and follow the normal application procedures.

Faculty or Divisional Quota: The Gardens Point quota allocation to each Faculty and Division is extremely small. In most cases only Senior Staff or those staff whose position requires them to park on campus would be issued parking from the quota allocation. You are advised to contact your Faculty or Divisional Office if you wish to be considered as part of the quota allocation. Should you be allocated parking from within the quota, you are still required to complete a parking application form and submit it to the Parking Office by the due date.

General Pool: Most staff wishing to park on campus will need to apply through the general pool. In order to apply though the general pool you must complete a Parking Application form, detailing all the reasons why you need a park on campus and submit it to the Parking Office by the due date. Parking applications are ranked in order of demonstrated need for a parking space and both staff and students compete equally for the available spaces. Parking is allocated to those with the highest rank. Failure to provide all the details of your situation may result in a lower rank being allocated to your application. You should be aware that parking is extremely limited, with approximately 100 spaces only available.

Pay & Display Car Park: The Short Term Car Park is located under the South East Freeway. This car park is designed for short term one off parking and fees are structured to encourage this. The car park is a 4P area and you may only park for a maximum of 4 hours in any one day. Please see the Pay & Display section for further details.

If you need to travel between campuses, there is a free inter-campus shuttle service between the Carseldine and Kelvin Grove Campuses, and between Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point. The service is provided through Brisbane Transport (BCC). Route 391 operates between Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point and route 392 between Kelvin Grove and Carseldine.

Further information is available on motorcycle parking and disabled parking.
