Client Feedback

Parking on all campuses is limited, particularly on the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove Campuses, and you are encouraged to consider all other options available to you before applying for campus parking. Listed below are some of the alternative options that may be available to you. You may also wish to consider a combination of these options.

  1. Public Transport
  2. Inter-Campus Shuttle Services
  3. Public Car Parks
  4. Bicycles
  5. Motorcycles
  6. Pay & Display Car Parks
  7. Weekend Parking

Public Transport

Public transport is available to all campuses, and is excellent to the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campus. Visit TransInfo for more information.

There is a new bus service (393) which operates between the Bulimba Ferry and Roma Street Train Station stopping at Bowen Hills, Royal Childrens Bus Staton, QUT Kelvin Grove Bus Station and the Normanby Bus Station.

Inter-Campus Shuttle Services

The University operates a shuttle service between Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove (BCC Bus Route 391) and between Kelvin Grove and Carseldine (392). This service is free to staff and students - you will need to present your QUT Id card when boarding the bus.

Visit the QUT Shuttle bus web page for more information

For students and staff who have evening lectures or who need to attend the campus during the evening, the University does provide an Evening Shuttle bus to surrounding car parks and public transport stops. Please visit the night shuttle bus web page for further information.

Public Car Parks

Both the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses are in close proximity to public car parks. You are encouraged to check with car park operators to determine the best deal available.

Gardens Point. South Bank car parks are a popular alternative with a short (and pleasant) walk across the Goodwill Bridge to campus. A number of inner city car parks also offer cheap deals for students. Check out the Myer Centre and Kings Parkade.

Kelvin Grove. Kings Parking (RCH) currently offers reduced rates to QUT staff and students and with buses leaving approximately every 3 minutes to campus (QUT KG Bus station) this is a very attractive alternative to parking on campus.

Further details and links are available on our city car parks page.

Bicycles

Ride your bike to campus. Please note that bicycles must be parked in the racks provided on campus.

More secure bike compounds are currently available at Gardens Point and within the IHBI building at KG which staff and students may access for a once off fee of $5.00. The IHBI building also has individual bike lockers for rent at $50.00 per year. Application forms are available from our web page or the Parking Office, M Block. An additional bike compound will be available at Kelvin Grove in 2007.

The Brisbane City Council has information on bikeways around the city and bus routes which have bicycle racks.

Motorcycles

Currently all three campuses have free motorcycle parking in designated areas. Gardens Point campus also offers paid motorcycle parking under the buildings.

Visit our page on Motorcycle Parking for more information, including the location of motorcycle parking.

Pay & Display Car Parks

Both the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campus have Pay and Display car parks for casual use. Visit our Pay & Display car parks web page for fees and other conditions

Weekend Parking

Weekend & After-hours parking is available at competitive rates at Gardens Point. Weekend parking permits are valid from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday. After-hours permits are valid between 8pm and 7am, Monday to Friday. Both are sold per half year. Applications are available on line.
