The University operates Pay and Display car parks on the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove Campuses. The car parks are designed to cater for staff, students and visitors who require one-off short term parking on the campuses. These car parks are opened 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
When entering the car parks, customers first find a car space before going to one of the ticket machines located in the car park and inserting enough change to cover the period of time they will be parking (The machines are designed to take only Australian currency coins). They will then be issued with a ticket, which must be displayed on their vehicle while the vehicle is parked in the car park. Infringement notices will be issued to vehicles:
- That do not display a valid ticket/permit
- Whose ticket/permit is not completely visible through the windscreen
- That are not parked in a designated bay or
- That overstay the maximum time limit.
Gardens Point - Short Term Car Park
The Short Term Car Park is located under the South East Freeway and has 193 spaces. There is a maximum time period of four (4) hours per day. Infringement notices will be issued to vehicles that overstay the four (4) hour limit.

Kelvin Grove - Herston Road Pay & Display Car Park
The Herston Road Pay & Display car park is located off Herston Road near the tennis courts and has 100 spaces. Fees apply in this car park between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday. Fees: 80 cents per hour. Please be aware that tickets from the Oval Pay & Display car park are not valid in this car park.
Kelvin Grove - Green Zones Pay & Display Car Parks
There are three Green Zone Pay & Display car parks on campus: The Oval Car park is located off Herston Road adjacent to the Oval and has 220 spaces. The Boundary Road Pay & Display car park is located at the other end of the Oval on Boundary Road and has x spaces. And the Rainforest Car Park is located between H Block and M Block and has x spaces. There is a flat fee of $4.00 per day regardless of the length of stay.
Scratch permits are required for this car park. The permit is validated when required by scratching off the relevant year, month, day and date and displayed on the vehicle. Kelvin Grove - SLSC Pay & Display Car Park
The SLSC Pay & Display car park is located in the SLSC building (F Block) and has 482 spaces. Entry is from Boundary Road. Fees are charged at $3.00 per session or part thereof, with a maximum fee of $6.00 per day. Sessions are:
- 0000-1200;
- 1200-1800 and
- 1700-2400.
Scratch permits are required for this car park. Permits are available for the full day ($6.00) or one session ($3.00). The permit is validated when required by scratching off the relevant month, day, date and time and displayed on your vehicle. The permits will be able to be purchased from Student Centres, Campus Bookshops, through Student Guild shops and directly from the Parking Office. They are used simply by scratching panels to review the appropriate day, date and month details before displaying the ticket on the vehicle dashboard.
