How do I find out if I've got parking?
You can check whether you have been granted parking online. Please do not call the Parking Office for this unless there is a problem with the web-site.
Why didn't I get parking?
Parking at all campuses is issued on a needs basis. Your application is assessed and given a rank between 0 and 10. To get a rank of 10 you would need to hold a Qld Department of Transport Disability Permit, to get a rank of 0 you would not have given any details on your form. The parking is then given to those applicants with the highest rank until we run out of spaces. If you haven't received parking this means that there were a number of people who demonstrated a greater need for the parking.
Can I appeal the decision?
Yes, however you must do so in writing. The easiest method is via email to parking@qut.edu.au Your original application will then be reassessed to ensure that we have given you the correct rank. If you were not given the correct rank, and the rank would have been sufficient to grant you parking, your appeal will be successful. If the rank would not have been sufficient, or you were given the correct rank your appeal will be unsuccessful. If your appeal gives new information about your circumstances, your application will be reranked and you will be considered for any future allocations.
What else can I do if i didn't get parking?
We strongly recommend that you look into what public transport or other options are available to you. Please visit our Other Parking & Transport Options web page for further information and advice.
Can I submit a late application?
The Parking Office will accept late applications for all campuses. You should be aware that we have already issued allocated parking permits for all campuses and your application will only be considered if spaces become available. Some time periods are easier to get than others - for instance there is usually still plenty of evening parking available at Gardens Point after the closing date.
Where is the Parking Office?
The Parking Office on the Gardens Point Campus, level 1 M Block (room 120).
When is the Parking Office open?
Normally the Office is opened at 8.30 am and closed at 5.30 Mon to Thu and 4.30 on Friday. We extend our hours at the beginning of each semester. Please see the Contacts section for more details.
How do I contact the Parking Office?
Email is the easiest method to contact the office (parking@qut.edu.au) Please see the Contacts section for more details.
Can I get a yearly permit?
Students need to reapply for a permit each semester. See the Student Parking Section for more details
Staff who apply for a Carseldine or are entitled to an All Campus Permit are able to obtain a full year permit. All other staff will need to reapply on a semester basis.
How much does parking costs?
Please see the Staff or Student parking sections for further details on permit costs. Costs for the Short Term Car Park or user pays car parks at Kelvin Grove are available from the Pay & Display Section.
I'm pregnant, can I get parking?
Pregnancy in itself does not entitle you to parking. You will still need to submit an application form and based on all the information on your form your application will be assessed. Please see either the Staff or Student sections for further information.
Can I park on the holidays without a permit?
No. Restrictions are never lifted at Gardens Point campus. Restrications will generally not be lifted at Kelvin Grove or Carseldine, however, should restrictions be lifted, hoods will be placed over the signs to indicate that permits are not required - you should follow the signage at all times. There will also be notice of this on the Weekly Campus Information emails. You should only ever park without a permit if the signage indicates that this is permitted. Do not rely on second hand information for this as it will invariably be wrong and you will receive an infringement, which will not be waived. If in doubt, check this web-site or contact the Parking Office.
My class was on a public holiday, can I use my permit for the make-up days?
No. Your permit is valid for the days and times indicated only. If you require parking for the make-up days at the end of semester at Gardens Point you will need to complete the Exam Parking Application form.
