Rainforest Car Park

Facilities Management will be commencing an upgrade of the Rainforest Car Park from 23 January 2012.

Expected completion date is due 27 February 2012 (weather permitting).

Please use alternate parking that is available near H Block or within F Block.

Maintenance

Statutory Fire Extinguisher Testing
Please be advised that the half yearly Statutory tests on the fire extinguishers are currently underway at Gardens Point until Friday 10 February.

The testing will be carried out by contractors between 7:00am and 5:00pm each day. Generally there will be no disruption to the operation of the University. The contractor will be issued with a guideline and instructed to return at a later date if there is an event in progress.

Parking

2012 Parking Permits

Staff are advised that Permit Parking is available at QUT and can provide substantial savings for regular users of the Pay and Display car Parks at Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove. Most permit areas are located undercover secure carparks.

The following periods are available for application now for both campuses:

1. Summer (post Xmas) now until 24th February 2012
2. Semester 1, 2012*
3. Weekend Permits - Full and Half year
4. Public Holiday Permits - Full Year
5. After Hours Permits - Full and Half
6. Evening Permit - by period eg Semester 1
   

*Semester 1 permits are limited and are allocated on a needs and equity basis.

Applications can be submitted online through QUT Virtual under the My QUT tab (just above the weather information).

Pay and Display Machines

1. Increase in tariffs for 2012

Effective from Saturday 28th January, Pay and Display tariffs will be as follows:

Gardens Point - Short Term Car Park - Under Freeway

Up to 1 hour $3.00
1 to 2 hours $4.00
2 to 2.5 hours $5.00
2.5 to 3 hours $6.00
3 to 3.5 hours $7.00
3.5 to 4 hours $8.00

Maximum duration of stay permitted is 4 hours as signed.

Kelvin Grove

Green Zones - $6.00 All Day Flat Rate

Red Zones - $8.00 All Day Flat Rate

SLSC F Block - $6.00 4 hours
$8.00 All Day Flat Rate

2. Credit Card Payment Now Availble at Selected Locations

In addition to coin payment, Pay and Display Tickets can be purchased using Visa, MasterCard or American Express at the following locations:

• Gardens Point - Short Term Car Park - machines 2 & 4 (next to change machines)
• Kelvin Grove - SLSC F Block Levels 2C and 3C (next to change machines), K Block 2 (Musk Ave side), Oval Car Park 3 and Lot 5B

Parking Regulations

Drivers are reminded that QUT is a regulated parking area and that a valid permit or pay and display ticket is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including Public Holidays) at both Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove. Free Parking is available at Kelvin Grove on Saturday and Sunday in the Green Zone car parks located at the Oval and Lot 5.
