Statutory Tests on the Emergency Evacuation Lighting Systems

Commencing Thursday 24 November 2011, Facilities Management plans to carry out half yearly Statutory tests on the Emergency Evacuation Lighting on QUT buildings.

Because of the procedures that need to be followed, and the restrictions put on the testers (eg. by the current room scheduling), the dates given are indicative only, and it is possible that the tests may extend beyond these dates.

Planned testing period: 24 November to 22 December 2011

Kelvin Grove - Friday 25 November to Friday 9 December
Gardens Point - Wednesday 14 December to Thursday 22 December

This does not include 126 Margaret St, 88 Musk Ave or 44 Musk Ave.

Generally there will be no disruption to normal lighting during these tests however, some buildings will lose some sections of lighting for up to 90 minutes.

Please advise all relevant people of these tests.

Statutory Fire Door Tests

Facilities Management are currently carrying out statutory half yearly tests on the fire doors on QUT buildings, the testing will continue through until Friday 23 December 2011.

The testing will be carried out by contractors (FireVac Services) between 7.00am and 4.00pm each day.

Generally there will be no disruption to the operation of the university, the technicians carrying out the tests have been issued with a procedure and are instructed to return at a later date if there is an event in progress.

Generator Test at IHBI

On Saturday 10 December 2011, Facilities Management will be carrying out a generator test in the IHBI building. There will be reduced light levels in the car park, and lifts will not be functional from 7:00am and 1:00pm.
