University fleet vehicles can be hired for any length of time day or night. Users incur a minimum 3 hour charge for hires and additional time is billed in 1/2 hourly incruments to a maximum of rate of seven hours per day. A charge is incurred if vehicles are booked and not collected. This amount is equal to three times the normal rate. There is no charge if bookings are cancelled prior to the start time of the booking.

A 12 seat mini Bus is available for hire at both Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove up until 3:00pm on weekdays. Please phone the Logistics Centre for further information.
Additional Charges:
- Insurance Excess: Repair costs up to a maximum of $500.00 (insurance excess) are payable by the cost centre for any damage incurred to the vehicle.
- Overnight Rate: For keys collected in the late afternoon for use early the following day, there is no overnight charge if the keys are collected between 3:00pm and 4:00pm (KG) or 4:00pm and 5:30pm (GP) and the vehicle remains on campus overnight. Vehicles collected earlier than this or taken home incur an overnight charge of three hours to enable the driver to garage the vehicle or complete other necessary tasks. Vehicles used and returned during evening periods do not incur an overnight fee.
- Field Trips: Do not incur overnight charges if taken directly. Where the vehicle is parked at the staff member's residence a charge as per the overnight rate is incurred.
- Fringe Benefits Tax: Vehicles which are booked overnight and garaged at a staff members home incur Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT). There is no FBT payable on vehicles taken directly on field trips.
- Vehicle insecurity: Vehicles left unsecured after keys have been returned incur a $10 fee. An insecure vehicle is defined as having door/s unlocked, window/s down or boot/bonnet popped.
- Parking fee: A $12 parking fee applies to vehicles not returned to designated fleet bays at campus of booking post key return.
- Cleaning Fee: A detailing charge $38.50 applies to vehicles deemed too dirty to re-hire.
- Late Fees: Late fees of three times the normal rate are charged to the Cost Centre for the particular hire (charged for each hour or part thereof after the designated return time).
- No-show Fee: A charge of three times the hourly rate ($30) will be charged for vehicles booked and not collected, or cancelled with less than half an hour notice.
- Cargo Barrier Attachment fee: A fee of $24 applies if station wagons are returned with the cargo barrier not correctly fitted.
- GPS: Hire of a GPS device incurs an additional $5.00 per day fee. The device is subject to availability and is only available on request at Kelvin Grove.
