Facilities Management manages the contracts for pest control. Campus Services will notify University Departments prior to any scheduled pest control activity affecting their area.
An accredited pest control company is engaged to treat all three campuses on an annual basis (for cockroaches, silverfish, ants etc.), while food preparation areas such as refectories and tea rooms are treated quarterly. Special treatment for the control and eradication of white ants, rodents and other ad hoc pests are also provided.
All pest control treatments are guaranteed for 12 months, but if re-infestation occurs during this period, the contracted pest control company will be instructed to return and retreat the problem areas.
At the time of negotiating the contract, a check of chemical toxicity is made to ensure that materials used comply with National Standards. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are available through the Cleaning Supervisor.
